Eric Melniczek works with High Point University students in teaching them proven techniques and strategies with regard to the development and execution of a career development action plan with the intent of accelerating the pace of their respective career searches. Prior to arriving at HPU in August 2009, Eric served for six years at the Radford University Experiential Learning & Career Development office and four years with two executive search firms, SR Clarke and Excel Partners. He earned his M.A.Ed. from Virginia Tech in Higher Education & Student Affairs Administration and his B.S. from Ramapo College of New Jersey in Business Administration. Eric enjoys hiking, road trips, watching professional & college sporting events, theater, and physical fitness. Recently Eric had accepted for publication an article entitled “Appalachian Natives and Their Love of Professional Wrestling.” He is in the midst of writing a book entitled “Transitioning to the Real World: A Guide to Navigating Your First Year Out of College.”

 

 

Susan Williams

Susan Williams is using her 12 years of experience providing career counseling and coaching to help High Point University students gain clarity and focus regarding their career goals. Certified in Myers Briggs Type Indicator and proficient in the administration and feedback of personality and career assessments  combined with a  M.S. in Counseling- Human Resources,  she enthusiastically assists  students in  understanding  their personality type, strengths, and interests. Prior to coming to HPU, she worked as the HR and Diversity Director for a multi-unit franchise in North Carolina and as a career consultant and coach with Joyce Richman and Associates as well as Virginia Polytechnic Institute.

 

 

Ms. Heidi Fischer

Heidi Fischer serves as the study abroad advisor for High Point University students, helping them find a program that will meet their personal, professional, and academic needs and goals. Heidi is a graduate of High Point University (International Business & French) and earned her MA in International Affairs at American University in Washington, DC. Prior to her move to HPU, Heidi served as the study abroad advisor for business majors at UNC Greensboro. She is a member of two choirs in Greensboro, including the select Westminster Chamber Singers, and has performed major works with the Winston-Salem Symphony.

 

 

Chris Ferguson

Chris Ferguson is the Coordinator of Experiential Learning. Chris works with the short-term, faculty-led study programs, but he also assists with other Experiential Learning program such as full-semester & summer study abroad, EXP 1101: The President’s Seminar on Life Skills and IDS 1151: Cultural Foundations. After graduating from HPU, he moved to China for a year to work with college students, pursue Chinese language study, and travel to various locations throughout China, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand. He often is found enjoying outdoor activities including camping, hiking, kayaking, canoeing, biking, and disc golf.

 

 

Elizabeth Ann Murphy

Elizabeth Ann Murphy came to High Point University in 1994 as the Secretary for Career Development and joined Experiential Learning as the Administrative Assistant in 2007.  She is a proud graduate of High Point College.  She is a long-time volunteer for Reading Connections. She enjoys movies and reading, especially under an umbrella on the beach.
