Student Leadership

High Point University students have a number of formal and informal learning opportunities related to volunteerism, service, and social justice.

2012 NC Campus Compact Student Conference

Watch for more details

In the fall of each year, NC Campus Compact hosts a conference designed to provide student leaders with the opportunity to network and to gain the knowledge, skills, and tools to create or expand their campus's volunteerism and civic engagement efforts. The conference is planned and implemented by undergraduate students from member institutions. Workshop presenters at the conference are students, so students are learning from their peers at other institutions.

Goals for the student conference include:

  • Stimulate student leadershiop and citizenship by enhancing statewide networking, sharing, and learning around best practices and innovation in community-campus engagement
  • Challenge campuses to grow in addressing the greatest local and regional issues/needs
  • Kick off the Compact's 10th year anniversary celebrating the engagement of students on North Carolina campuses.

The 2012 HPU student on the conference planning committee is Dylan Robinson. Contact him or the Office of Experiential Learning to learn how you can get involved in HPU's relationship with North Carolina Campus Compact.

During the conference luncheon the Community Impact Student Award is presented to select students from member campuses who exhibit outstanding leadership and innovative approaches in community service or service-learning endeavors.
